Are you a west houston cardiology patient of ours? Are you taking generic Lipitor (Atorvastatin)?

If you answered yes to both, read below for an important announcement!

One of the manufacturers of Atorvastatin is voluntarily recalling many lot numbers of this medication, because of a risk of "small glass particles less than 1mm in size". Please read the information at the bottom of this post, which was taken directly from the website of the manufacturer today (11-26-12).

What should you do with your Atorvastatin?

1. Check the attached Atorvastatin Recalled Lot Numbers, which we obtained directly from Ranbaxy, the largest manufacturer worldwide of generic Lipitor, Atorvastatin.

2. If your Atorvastatin matches the lot numbers attached, please call your pharmacy for a replacement. Our office spoke to Walgreens and CVS directly, confirming that they will provide replacements for your Atorvastatin.

3. If you have any difficulty with either of the above, please call our office and our staff will help you in any way we can.

4. If you would like to switch to the brand name Lipitor, you will need to call our office to receive a new prescription, or use the patient portal to request one from us electronically.

Please do let us know if you experience any difficulty with this process.

If you are not currently a patient of ours, please contact our office by phone (713-464-2928 or 281-392-3401) or request an appointment online here: -Cardiology Appointment, especially if you are reading this after regular business hours. Help us avoid playing phone tag with you!
